A recent story in the Colo Springs Gazette says the Pikes Peak races will begin offering prize money to the top finishers. Should attract a better field, maybe give Matt Carpenter some competition for once. Also added is an essay contest for folks who miss the registration deadline, which is expected to be about five hours after rego opens on March 1.The Gazette story can be read here.

I'm not doing Pikes this year, it's the same day as Leadville.
is Leadville more prestigious?
Yes and no. Just wanna knock out my first 100 miler.
well, then...I would say that would be a big factor in your decision
