With all the news surrounding Mt. Hood, this rescue went relatively unnoticed among the local mountaineering scene. With all the times I've been up and down the mountain, and the dozens of stories from the Austin runners, many of my loyal readers probably have the idea that Pikes is an easy hike, but that's definitely not the case.

Sorry for the lack of updates. Pikes is still there in all her glory, I just haven't had my camera with me lately. This is a shot taken from my hike up from Crag's Campground last September. Because of other mountains in the area, unless you hike this route you can't really get this view.
