A snow covered Pikes Peak, taken today from the corner of Alexander and Willamette. This would basically be the view of Pikes from my house if it weren't for a bunch of trees getting in the way.

Climbed Rocky Mountain during the season's first snowstorm yesterday, was hoping for a great shot of a snow capped Pikes Peak. This is all I got.

This pic was taken at the same spot and angle as the first picture on this blog. As you can tell, the weather conditions were slightly different. Supposed to snow more today and clear up tomorrow, so hopefully I can get a good shot of Pikes then.

This pic was taken at the recent Kimchi hash beer check. Not a bad backdrop for drinking!

This pic was taken this past winter on a hike through Waldo Canyon. The terrain in Waldo keeps you from seeing Pikes most of the time, but when the mountain does make the occassional appearance it's a great view.

Inspired by this blog, I decided to take that same idea and apply it to Pikes Peak. Pikes is the mountain that started up my fascination with Colorado 14ers, and though I've now climbed a bunch of 'em the Purple Mountain is still my favorite.

This blog will be nothing but pics about Pikes Peak. Might be shots of the summit as viewed from different parts of Colorado Springs. Might be photos of Teresa and Neil while I'm resting at Barr Camp. Might be close ups of some marmots I see above treeline. I play on the mountain almost everyday, so I guess the pics could be of almost anything.

This is a pic taken from the top of Rocky Mountain. It's one of my favorite views of Pikes. Tough to get there though, as you hafta do the Incline first, then do some decent scrambling and climbing to get up Rocky. For those familiar with the Barr Trail, you're basically right above No Name Creek here. Gives you an idea of all you hafta go through to hike up to the top.
