Took a trip out to the town of Divide today. Was gonna make an attempt to bag Signal Butte, but there was way too much snow. Ended up goofing off in the snow for a bit and got these shots of Pikes.
This is a plaque on the Barr Trail just above treeline. Haven't been able to find any info about Ms. Roberts but she remains one of my heroes. Most people couldn't make it a quarter mile up Barr Trail, here is this 88 year old chick bagging Pikes all the time. I heard she was killed by a lightening strike, which wouldn't be a bad way to go if you've lived 88 good years. I think on my 14th ascent of Pikes I'll be sure to bring extra PBR and cigars and enjoy them at this plaque.
Melissa and I at the summit on October 1st. Quite a bit of snow above treeline, but I still made it in shorts. It was my 10th time hiking up to the top, and my 6th consecutive month of at least one summit.
